After all the busy weekends since we moved, last weekend, we finally managed to go on a weekend getaway to Buzios, my favourite beach destiny in Rio de Janeiro state.
It was a quick trip, we arrived there just after the sunset, after spending the day in Saquarema, to stay for the night and enjoy the next day in the beach.
Although Buzios has many beautiful beaches, and some quiet beaches with calm waters perfect for children, my favourite beach has always been Geribá.
Geribá has a wide sand, and it is the best beach for a walk by the shore, or just to lay down in the sun. The usually cold water is perfect for a jump in the water to recharge the batteries. It is also the favourite beach for surfers, and as my husband loves to surf, that’s the beach where we always choose to stay.
Buzios has always meant to me enjoying the beach during the day and walking along Rua das Pedras in the evening. So last saturday, when we arrived we just left our luggage in our pousada in Geribá and drove right to the city center to enjoy a little bit of the night in Rua das Pedras.
Rua das Pedras (“pedras” in portuguese is the word for “stones”) is a charming cobblestone street where you can find the best restaurants, bars and shops of Buzios. In Rua das Pedras is where most of Buzios nightlife happens.
We ate crepe in Chez Michou (the most famous and crowded creperie in Buzios in high season), walked along Rua das Pedras and had ice cream.
The next day we woke up early. Had our breakfasts and headed right to the beach to enjoy the most of our day. While my son played in the water, me and my husband relaxed in the sand, taking turns to watch him. It was a perfect day but unfortunately after lunch we had to come back to Rio. The next day was a business day and we don’t like riding highways in the evening.
Those photos make me want to come back soon!
Have a nice weekend!
