A place to breathe and relax in Rio, even during Carnival

It is not the first time I write about this place in this blog. I’ve already mentioned it here, here and here, and I’m going to talk about it again. Sorry if I’m being repetitive but I just can’t help saying good things about Pista Claudio Coutinho, in Praia Vermelha. Continue reading

Pista Claudio Coutinho, my hidden treasure in Rio

If I had to pick only one place in Rio to visit before I die this place would definitely be Pista Claudio Coutinho.

Pista Claudio Coutinho is an oceanside pathway located between Morro da Urca (the first hill of Sugar Loaf ) and Praia Vermelha ocean. It is located in a very safe area, in Urca neighborhood, just inside a military area.

I like to go there for so many different reasons. I like to go there for running, or just for a leisure walk,  I like to go there to take photographs, with my camera, or with my eyes. I like to go there to breath some fresh air. That’s why I consider it my treasure place in Rio.

Those pictures I took a couple of weekends ago when I took my mother for the first time there. She was delighted with the beautiful landscape  and I got very happy to provide her this moment of pleasure for being close to nature.

If you are visiting Rio and are in need of some quiet moment close to nature, that’s the place to go. As it is quite close to Sugar Loaf, you can visit both in the same day.

Now that I finally bought my tripod, I will start practicing night photography. I still don’t have any skills on that field, but I would like to share with you just one photo by now.

This one I took while walking in the sidewalk of Urca neighborhood with my husband and kid, after having a lovely time and delicious meal last night in Bar Urca, a very traditional restaurant in Urca, Rio de Janeiro.  Their specialties are seafood and fish dishes, all of them very tasty and well served!

Bar Urca is famous for the crowds that in hot days buy their ice-cold bottled beer on the counter and taste delicious finger food by the wall in front of the Restaurant and Bar Urca at the margin of Guanabara Bay.

Does any of you guys has already heard about it? If you don’t, when you have the opportunity go and check for yourself. You won’t regret it! I promise!!

The other day, when I went out to photograph I spent a lot of time framing those colored boats. I always have a little difficulty with backlight and I’m trying to learn a little more how to use it. Well, this time I just played with the composition. Although I had a little trouble with exposure, I liked those photos.  They were taken in Urca, from Cacilda Becker Square, Rio de Janeiro. Another great place to go whenever in Rio de Janeiro for a great view of Enseada de Botafogo. Have a nice weekend!

Just practicing

Yesterday afternoon, I  went out for a little photography practicing. As there is a design event going on in Rio de Janeiro, I went to Urca neighborhood, to check one of the events of the Rio Design Week.

It was “The Design in the square”, an event organized with the purpose of promoting the urban revitalization of Cacilda Becker square , in Urca. The event schedule included design lectures, furniture exhibition, design workshops for kids and adults, music and much more.

Besides having the chance of  seeing some interesting design pieces, I enjoyed the time looking around and capturing the moments with my camera in the manual mode.

Hope you like them!
